Cat obedience training for some reason always seemed to me like a contradiction in terms. After all, unlike those, oh, so trainable dogs – pack animals that recognize and respond to a hierarchy – my cats have always been slightly aloof, solitary creatures, obedient only to themselves and their own instincts. At least I had no luck when it came to trying to get my cat to do the simplest thing… like stop clawing my furniture to shreds. So when I discovered Paula Robb’s “Complete Cat Training“, and saw that it uses professional training secrets to improve any cat’s behavior, my first thought was, “Yeah, right.”

But I heard so many great things about this guide that I decided to take a chance on this innovative new method of teaching an old cat some new tricks.
Let me tell you a secret right now, I was extremely glad that I took this chance!

After only a couple of weeks of using the instructions in the guide, I could already see some success. My ordinarily obstinate cat was demonstrating some real improvement in both personality and behavior.

This mewling, and furry fury that clawed my furniture as if it were his own personal scratching post had morphed into quite a well-mannered companion. He even learned that the litter box really did have a purpose other than as a room fragrance.

Now my elegant and gentle feline was demonstrating the behaviors I had always hoped for. The furniture was not receiving attention from his claws anymore, and the litter box was used at the correct time.

I half expected my cat to begin asking for toilet tissue, but hey this could happen in the future. At this point, I am willing to concede that anything may be possible with this “Complete Cat Training” method.

With the advice included in this guide, I learned how to best meet my cat’s nutritional needs, and I think we both ended up learning a few new tricks! For my money, I believe that there is no other cat advice guide as thorough as “Complete Cat Training“.

If you are a cat owner like me, you already know training cats is nothing like training dogs. You will do well to train your cat to use the little box at all times, stay off the kitchen counters and come when he is called. Cats apparently love to tread daintily upon a shelf or counter top, the more breakable items involved the better. If they then decide it would be a good place to lie down, anything in their way goes crashing to the floor. Glass pots, bowls, perhaps even the blender. This of course happens when you are not home. Sometimes your cat may decide to mark his territory or for other reasons refuse to use the little box. Even a cat that has been using the little box faithfully for some time he may still decide to mark his territory underneath the couch or some other hard to access place . What possesses a kitty to do these things? Here are some cat training tips to help you understand more about training cats.

1. Your cat may simply not like the odor in his litter box. A cat is a clean, finicky animal and will not use a dirty litter box; he will find other places to go. Keep it clean and as odor free as possible. Make sure your kitty has access to it all times. You may want to hide the box from company but always make sure the litter box is where he can easily access it.

2. Never hit or punish your cat, many people spray their cat with water to get him off the counter or stop him from scratching the furniture; this is not a good idea when it comes to training cats. It can encourage aggressive behavior and the last thing you need is a cranky aggressive cat running around the house. A better way to discourage them from getting on the counter is to use sticky tape or something of this nature as the cat does not like the feel of it on his feet.

3. A cat will soon know when it is feeding time, whether he hears the can opener or the noise of his dish being moved, he will quickly associate it with food. This is a good opportunity to teach your cat to respond to his name. Call your cat by name before making any noise he associates with feeding time, he will soon learn that the sound of his name is a possible treat and come running to you.

These cat training tips should give you some ideas of how to better train and get along with your kitty. A great resource for more detailed information can be found at; Cat Secrets Guide, this guide contains top-secret tips to ensure your success in training cats and solving their behavior problems. It contains solutions to over 25 behavior problems found in cats. It also includes training techniques, photos, and step-by-step instructions to train your cat like a professional.

Most cats need to be litter trained from the time they start wondering around. If you are new to litter training a cat, then you should acquire a cat training guide. This is the best way to acquire tips about the care of your cat potty training.

There are many cheap brands of cat litter at your local department or grocery store. What I mean by cheap is just that. It is made with the same substance that oil dry is made from. Oil dry is made to soak up oil and fuel spots that you see at many gas stations. It is also used for drying up excess water. Once the kitten has used this type of litter it really smells bad and it leaves an odor inside your house that is really sickening when you have been outside for a while.

There is some scented cat litter that works much better, and it is really worth the money. They tend to be a tad bit more expensive, but you can find decently priced ones, however, you get what you pay for, and scented litter is excellent in leaving a nice smell in the atmosphere. The great thing about it is that your kitten can use the potty many times before the smell goes bad. Your kitten is much more likely to use a clean smelling box than a dirty one. Cats are very clean animals.

When litter training your cat, do not purchase a litter box that is too high for the little tyke to crawl into, but high enough that as they cover their droppings, no cat litter is being strewn all over the carpet or floor. A litter pan that is high on three of the sides and a side just low enough that the kitten can get in and out without any trouble will serve just fine for your cat.

As time goes by the kitten becomes very attached to you, even as far as following you from one room to the other. This however, becomes difficult when they start following you to the bathroom, as mine does. When I closed the door, the cat kept meowing until the door was opened. So, I had to start not only keeping a litter pan at the back door, I had to have one in the bathroom as well. Now when I go, he follows me and uses his potty at the same time I use mine. Little tips like these depend on your cats personality and your own hosuing situation. Every cat is different and sometimes a little adjustment here and there do the trick perfectly.

There is a website that provides much more information than I can. It is the Complete Cat Training Guide that helps you train your cat. It covers every aspect of Litter Training your cat as well as other info such as: how to teach your cat not to get in the trash can, not to jump on places they are not suppose to and many other cat aggression issues that you may have. It also teaches you some things to do so that you and your loving cat will have the best relationship that the two of you could possible have.
Some good tips concerning litter box training.

Cats as you know are very shy animals, make sure the litter box is in a private location. If the cat is stressed about a litter box, it will cause the feline to go in another area.

A general rule of thumb that experts teach is have 1 additional litter box compared to the ammount of cats you have. So if you have 1 cat get two litter boxes, 2 cats = 3 litter boxes. Of course this also depends on your living situation.

Also try to see if the consistency of the litter is bothering your cat . A cat can be seen agitated at some brands of litter.

Cats are very clean animals, so make sure the box is clean and smells ok. Cats have a much higher sense of smell that you do, so imagine what that box smells like to the cat! haha

Hope this Helps with your litter box troubles!
