Cat Advice: Complete Cat Training.. How does one stop bad cat behavior?

Complete Cat Training

Complete Cat Training

Cat obedience training for some reason always seemed to me like a contradiction in terms. After all, unlike those, oh, so trainable dogs – pack animals that recognize and respond to a hierarchy – my cats have always been slightly aloof, solitary creatures, obedient only to themselves and their own instincts. At least I had no luck when it came to trying to get my cat to do the simplest thing… like stop clawing my furniture to shreds. So when I discovered Paula Robb’s “Complete Cat Training“, and saw that it uses professional training secrets to improve any cat’s behavior, my first thought was, “Yeah, right.”

But I heard so many great things about this guide that I decided to take a chance on this innovative new method of teaching an old cat some new tricks.
Let me tell you a secret right now, I was extremely glad that I took this chance!

After only a couple of weeks of using the instructions in the guide, I could already see some success. My ordinarily obstinate cat was demonstrating some real improvement in both personality and behavior.

This mewling, and furry fury that clawed my furniture as if it were his own personal scratching post had morphed into quite a well-mannered companion. He even learned that the litter box really did have a purpose other than as a room fragrance.

Now my elegant and gentle feline was demonstrating the behaviors I had always hoped for. The furniture was not receiving attention from his claws anymore, and the litter box was used at the correct time.

I half expected my cat to begin asking for toilet tissue, but hey this could happen in the future. At this point, I am willing to concede that anything may be possible with this “Complete Cat Training” method.

With the advice included in this guide, I learned how to best meet my cat’s nutritional needs, and I think we both ended up learning a few new tricks! For my money, I believe that there is no other cat advice guide as thorough as “Complete Cat Training“.

Cat Training Tips

Cat Training Tips

If you are a cat owner like me, you already know training cats is nothing like training dogs. You will do well to train your cat to use the little box at all times, stay off the kitchen counters and come when he is called. Cats apparently love to tread daintily upon a shelf or counter top, the more breakable items involved the better. If they then decide it would be a good place to lie down, anything in their way goes crashing to the floor. Glass pots, bowls, perhaps even the blender. This of course happens when you are not home. Sometimes your cat may decide to mark his territory or for other reasons refuse to use the little box. Even a cat that has been using the little box faithfully for some time he may still decide to mark his territory underneath the couch or some other hard to access place . What possesses a kitty to do these things? Here are some cat training tips to help you understand more about training cats.

1. Your cat may simply not like the odor in his litter box. A cat is a clean, finicky animal and will not use a dirty litter box; he will find other places to go. Keep it clean and as odor free as possible. Make sure your kitty has access to it all times. You may want to hide the box from company but always make sure the litter box is where he can easily access it.

2. Never hit or punish your cat, many people spray their cat with water to get him off the counter or stop him from scratching the furniture; this is not a good idea when it comes to training cats. It can encourage aggressive behavior and the last thing you need is a cranky aggressive cat running around the house. A better way to discourage them from getting on the counter is to use sticky tape or something of this nature as the cat does not like the feel of it on his feet.

3. A cat will soon know when it is feeding time, whether he hears the can opener or the noise of his dish being moved, he will quickly associate it with food. This is a good opportunity to teach your cat to respond to his name. Call your cat by name before making any noise he associates with feeding time, he will soon learn that the sound of his name is a possible treat and come running to you.

These cat training tips should give you some ideas of how to better train and get along with your kitty. A great resource for more detailed information can be found at; Cat Secrets Guide, this guide contains top-secret tips to ensure your success in training cats and solving their behavior problems. It contains solutions to over 25 behavior problems found in cats. It also includes training techniques, photos, and step-by-step instructions to train your cat like a professional.

Litter Training a Cat

Litter Training A Cat

Litter Training A Cat

Most cats need to be litter trained from the time they start wondering around. If you are new to litter training a cat, then you should acquire a cat training guide. This is the best way to acquire tips about the care of your cat potty training.

There are many cheap brands of cat litter at your local department or grocery store. What I mean by cheap is just that. It is made with the same substance that oil dry is made from. Oil dry is made to soak up oil and fuel spots that you see at many gas stations. It is also used for drying up excess water. Once the kitten has used this type of litter it really smells bad and it leaves an odor inside your house that is really sickening when you have been outside for a while.

There is some scented cat litter that works much better, and it is really worth the money.  They tend to be a tad bit more expensive, but you can find decently priced ones, however, you get what you pay for, and scented litter is excellent in leaving a nice smell in the atmosphere. The great thing about it is that your kitten can use the potty many times before the smell goes bad.  Your kitten is much more likely to use a clean smelling box than a dirty one.  Cats are very clean animals.

When litter training your cat, do not purchase a litter box that is too high for the little tyke to crawl into, but high enough that as they cover their droppings, no cat litter is being strewn all over the carpet or floor. A litter pan that is high on three of the sides and a side just low enough that the kitten can get in and out without any trouble will serve just fine for your cat.

As time goes by the kitten becomes very attached to you, even as far as following you from one room to the other. This however, becomes difficult when they start following you to the bathroom, as mine does. When I closed the door, the cat kept meowing until the door was opened. So, I had to start not only keeping a litter pan at the back door, I had to have one in the bathroom as well. Now when I go, he follows me and uses his potty at the same time I use mine.  Little tips like these depend on your cats personality and your own hosuing situation.  Every cat is different and sometimes a little adjustment here and there do the trick perfectly.

There is a website that provides much more information than I can. It is the Complete Cat Training Guide that helps you train your cat. It covers every aspect of Litter Training your cat as well as other info such as: how to teach your cat not to get in the trash can, not to jump on places they are not suppose to and many other cat aggression issues that you may have. It also teaches you some things to do so that you and your loving cat will have the best relationship that the two of you could possible have. Everything You Need to Know About Maine Coon Cats

Maine Coon Cat

Maine Coon Cat

The main coone cat is the second most popular (behind the Persian) pedigreed cat in the world.  They are one of the oldest natural breeds in North America, the Maine Coon is regarded as the native cat to the state of Maine.  The Maine Cat has a silky long coat designed for harsh climates and is extremely nice to touch.  Not generally “lap cats” the Maine Coon Cat enjoys being around its owner, stay relaxed and stays playful through-out their lives.

Origins

Originated in the U.S in maine.  The cat got its name from a legend stating that a wild cat mated with a raccoon, probably thought of by some because of the bushy tail and realtive colors of the Main Coon Cat.  Their popularity as show cats was low as Persian Cats dominated the scene on their arriva; however, in 1950 the Maine Coon’s popularity rose again as breeders and cat fanciers began taking notice of them and began their pedigreed status.  By 1980 all registries accepted the Maine Coone and now is the 2nd most popular cat on the planet.

Personality

A non-dependant, highly people-oriented cat, the Maine Coon cat does not pester their owner but thinks of itself as hanging out with you and helping you with whatever task you are doing.  A very clever breed, they will follow you around and sit on the chair next to you, or wait behind a closed door for you to reappear.  Maine Coon cats will be your best friend, companion, and buddy… but will never be your little baby.  Males will like to clown around while females will be a bit more laid back.  Both genders are good around children and other cats.

Maine Coon Cat Training Tips

You will want to give your Main Coon cat high quality dry food as many veteranarians and experts recommend this.  Most Maine Coons can free feed without becoming overweight.  Keep a good supply of clean water for your Maine Coon as they love water, and love a constant supply.  Maine Coon Cats can be trained to wear a leash, and many will play catch with you.  This specific breed will learn things out of habit if it is associated with something they like.

Two known health issues with Maine Coon Cats are hip dysplasia and cardiomyopathy.  Make sure you talk to your breeder about any known problems with your cats family.  Also, because this breed is so popular make sure your breeder is a reputable one and not a back yard breeder.

Everything You Need to Know About a Persian Cat

#1 Popular Cat Breed: Persian
#1 Popular Cat Breed: Persian

The Persian cat is the most popular pedigreed classified cat in the world.  Persian cats are characterized as loving, sweet, laid back and loyal.  The animal is one of the oldest breeds of cats and without a certified pedigree is considered a domestic longhair.  Persians adjust well to new environments which make them excellent show cats.

Origins

As their name suggests, Persian cats originated in Persia, (today’s Iran).  The cat was then brought to Europe around 1500 and were used as highly valuable items of trade due to their long silky coat and were bred to focus on those highly loved characteristics.  By the 1900 the Persian cat was brought to the United States and began its growth into the most popular cat in the world.

Personality

Persian cats are quite lazy animals.  They are quite happy to lounge around all day and make perfect companions for affection.  Do not expect your Persian to run around the house all day (although it will have spurts of energy followed by long periods of rest).  Persians love to be cared for and crave affection and attention.  They do not force attention however like some other breeds.  The Persian cat is responsive to your behavior and emotions and will become very devoted and loyal to its owner.

Persian Cat Training Tips

Persian cats are better kept indoors as their long coats sweep up dirt and can easily get caught on branches and other outdoor hazards.  Persian cats are well known for being prey for cat burglars that steal the cat for their value.  Due to the Persian cats trusting nature they make easy prey for thieves.

Make sure your Persian Cat has been screened for PKD, a disease that causes Kidney Disease and can prove to be very unpleasant and fatal for your cat.

Solving Cat Behavior Problems

Solving Cat Behavior Problems

Solving Cat Behavior Problems

Perhaps you have an older cat, who’s been a part of your family for a number of years, and one that begins to exhibit bad cat behavior out of nowhere.  Or maybe you just adopted a new one that is new to your household and to you.  Either way, you suddenly encounter cat behavior problems like urination throughout your house, or the outright refusal to use the litter box at all, biting, and displays of aggression toward you or a family member, or an incessant yowling or other vocalization that won’t stop. While these cat problems can be frustrating to owners, they are not insurmountable, if a little care is taken.

If you happen to find that you’re experiencing some new problems with your animal, be prepared to discuss with your veterinarian or read up in a cat guide any changes you can think of that can upset your pet’s routine.  The answers to these questions, as well as other methods will better help the experts assess the type of therapy necessary for your cat, be it through medicine or behavior modification to end the cat problems you may face.

If the cats behavior has changed very suddenly, most experts agree that the very first thing you need to do is take your cat in for a thorough health checkup.  Quite a few “bad cat behaviors” actually have their root in some kind of organic disease process.  Blood tests and a thorough physical will ensure that there are no underlying problems like a bladder infection, kidney infection, or blocked urethra, which can lead to urination accidents outside the litter box, or other physical malady that could change the personality and behavior of an otherwise good cat.  For example, cracked bones or sore spots, or even skin disorders could cause cat biting or other aggressive behavior if an owner accidentally hits a tender spot that causes the animal physical pain.  Once you are sure that there is no physical cause for bad cat behavior, you can go on to try to pinpoint the source of what is going on with your cat in other arenas.

Some cat behavior problems, like cat urination can be handled physically by neutering or spaying your animal.  Males will spray to mark territory, especially if there is another male in what they consider to be “their space”.  Females will often urinate on things, especially around the time they go into heat to announce their fertility to any available males.  By surgically neutering a cat, this behavior can often be eradicated because it takes away the cyclical need to advertise the availability for mating.  Spaying a female will also stop the vocalizations that accompany going into heat.

Other cat urination problems can be psychological ones, a way for the cat to act out if it is unhappy with something in the environment.  Some factors include the move to a new location, the litter box not being private enough or cleaned often enough to suit the animal, or a change like the addition or loss of a person or animal in the cat’s surroundings.  Sometimes the solution can be as simple as changing the litter box more frequently, or possibly adding a second one in the instance where there are multiple cats.  Even changing the litter brand can cause some problems if the cat finds the feeling of the new litter unacceptable on its paws.

For other solutions you probably never thought of trying or knew of check out Complete Cat Secrets Guide.

Quick Litter Box Training Tips That You Must Achieve!

Litter Box Training Tips

Litter Box Training Tips

Some good tips concerning litter box training.

Cats as you know are very shy animals, make sure the litter box is in a private location.  If the cat is stressed about a litter box, it will cause the feline to go in another area.

A general rule of thumb that experts teach is have 1 additional litter box compared to the ammount of cats you have.  So if you have 1 cat get two litter boxes, 2 cats = 3 litter boxes.  Of course this also depends on your living situation.

Also try to see if the consistency of the litter is bothering your cat .  A cat can be seen agitated at some brands of litter.

Cats are very clean animals, so make sure the box is clean and smells ok.  Cats have a much higher sense of smell that you do, so imagine what that box smells like to the cat! haha

Hope this Helps with your litter box troubles!

If this is not enough information, and you have tried everything else, make sure to check out the Complete Cat Training Guide.  Used by experts everywhere to get what you want out of your little companion.

Kitten Training Tips

Kitten Training Tips

Kitten Training Tips

The joy of having a new kitten around the house may fade slightly when you realize you have to waste your precious time cleaning up after it. Therefore, training the cat from day one is highly recommended, don’t worry though, its not so bad; here are some kitten training tips you may find useful at the beginning of a relationship with your new friend. Kitten training tips are a complex subject and they are thoroughly covered by professional sites such as Secrets Of Cats where you can find secrets to stop your Cat’s Behavior Problems. General kitten training tips apply to all breeds so don’t worry about your kitten’s breed; the only problem is that some cats are more difficult to litter train than others.

The first kitten training tip is not to allow it to urinate or spray everywhere; you don’t want this to develop into a bad habit when the kitten becomes an adult.  One should note that before the cat is around 6 months old, techniques are tricky and it is hard for the kitten to pick up good habits. Training only creates good habits that requires constant reinforcement. There should be permanent access to the litter box area. A good kitten training tip is that cats are shy animals; make sure you have your litter box set up in a private area so that your kitten is living in a stress free environment.  Another tip people don’t know about is having 1 extra litter box in a private area.  If you have 1 cat you should have 2 box’s, if you have 2 kittens you should have 3 boxes etc. Reinforce the cats good actions of urinating in the litter box by giving the kitten a favorite treat and affection.

The next very important kitten training tip is to teach it how to love and respect you, by learning self control, this step is easy. Just like with small children, kitten training tips suggest that you don’t give in to every meow for help of your kitten; you are the leader and you set the rules. By dominance, we mean not giving in to your kitten meowing or behaving badly; however, pay great attention to your kitten when the animal displays good bahavior. Beware, by respect we mean love and attention combined with discipline. Kitten training tips are not for bullying and terrorizing your pet.

One of the best kitten training tips is to develop your cat into a social animal. If your cat develops fear of peoplem, it will also show outward signs of aggression, this is one of the worst problems with kittens and cats. You can socialize the animal by making sure when people are over they are introduced to the cat but do not put the cat in a stressful situation. The kitten training tip is that the feline gets used to having strangers in his domain. If the cat is not stressed it will know that the strangers are of no harm to him or your house,  this is crucial to this kitten training tip. There are certain ways of introducing your cat to strangers outlined in the Complete Cat Training Guide.

Remember, some aspects of Kitten Training are complex and should not be taken lightly.   For expert tips and advice on the exact methods professionals use check out the Complete Cat Training Guide Website.

House Cat Training

House Cat Training

When talking about house cat training, we imagine the rewarding feeling of being able to develop an animal’s skills and abilities; however, there is a lot of work and effort involved in the process too. Cat training at home begins with first steps such as potty training and continues with more complex tasks and commands. However, before you start cat training at home you’ll have to find some professional advice on cat health and care. Basic litter box and scratching skills are among the first tricks of house cat training, followed by good social skills as an essential part of the life of owning a loving house cat.

Many pet owners choose to turn to professional videos, seminars or guides that teach them about house cat training. People usually take two approaches when it comes to house cat training; people either take a very positive approach or a negative one.  All the studies over the past few recent years have shown that using a positive approach will produce a well bahaved cat, that not only will listen to your commands but will always honor, respect, and love your home as well as you do. House cat training is not a profession, but it sure does have an emotional touch to it.

Once you start house cat training don’t stop at just teaching the cat how to use the litter box. You can take house cat training a little further and teach the cat other tasks like showing the animal where to do necessary scratching.  There’s nothing worse than getting your carpet or couch scratched upon.  It begins by setting up a suitable scratching post.  Now when the cat is near or uses the post, reward the cat with the animal’s favorite treat. No matter the purpose of house cat training, keep in mind that reward is the magic key to get to your cat’s mind. Every time it performs an action, the cat will need encouragement to continue; therefore an affectionate moment is welcome and appreciated as much as some goodie treat.

House cat training takes a lot of time and energy, and many people find it a true challenge, but a fun one at that. However, time should not be a problem as long as you can turn to your animal and lavish a little attention on it. You can even practice play time or post scratching time during a commercial just like any other methods learned during house cat training. If you don’t want to have your cat scratching the sofa or meowing loudly, you can always order it to stop, and the animal will respond. This is the very practical side of house cat training. By all means avoid bullying the cat or raising your voice, as such actions develop aggression or fear.
